MD PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The MD Program run by Unaizah College of Medicine and Medical Sciences (UCM) at Qassim University (QU), is a 4 Year Medical Program spanning from Year 1 (MD 1) to Year 4 (MD 4). However, The Program is preceded by a Pre Medical Foundational Phase, which runs for two consecutive years Year 1 (Prep Year 1) of this Pre Medical Foundational Phase is administered by Qassim University Deanship of Educational Service and its credits are not included in the cumulative GPA of Students. Year 2 (Prep Year 2) of the Pre medical Foundational Phase is managed by the College and its credit hours contribute to the cumulative GPA of Students. The Program is also followed by a structured compulsory rotating internship for one year that carries no credits. Thus, the total duration of the MD Program is 7 years.

The curriculum of the Program is organized in a way so that graduates will obtain a similar MD Degree to that granted by United States of America medical schools. Our student come from various educational backgrounds and the role of the College is to prepare the students for the rigorous MD Program. Furthermore, the College provides support for learning, academic advising and counselling throughout the duration of the Program. Equally important is the enhancement of self directed learning, critical thinking, as well as personal development of our students. Learning is facilitated in an environment where understanding and mutual respect are valued by our students and faculty members.
